The Hochschule für Film und Fernsehen (HFF) "Konrad Wolf" is the oldest and biggest of five media universities in Germany and the biggest independent media school in Europe.
In eleven departments, today more than 550 students are educated in all domains of filmmaking for cinema and television. In addition to that, aesthetic concerns of media consumption, production management, production law and media-scientific subjects are being taught.
In 2000 the school moved into a new building equipped with the most modern digital studio technology in the media city of Babelsberg. 40 Professors, 100 temporary lecturers and over 100 technical and administrative employees care for the students.
Within the last years, the education technology has been completed with high quality digital equipment. The HFF is the only media school world-wide that has a last-generation digital-mixing-console, a digital film scanner, a digital color-grading suite, and a film recorder at its disposal.
The playout of digital film footage in the cinemas of the HFF happens now via a digital-daily-system and a digital 2K-projector.
Furthermore since 2009 the HFF is investing in 3D technology and owns now a digital 3D projection system as well as a 3D mirror rig. With these investments the HFF is well preparedfor the future of 3D cinema and TV.
