Exhibit „, Verzicht“ – HFF Hochschultag, July 2009
Portraits in space, an exhibit by Robert Laatz und Christian Mahler (artistic assistants at HFF „Konrad Wolf“).
To be able to abdicate and to be willing to abdicate are two different sides of a concept which served Robert Laatz und Christian Mahler as starting point for discussions about moral values, life models and needs. The authors have talked to more than 60 people from Berlin and Brandenburg and portrayed them in more than 700 pictures with a stereo camera. The portraits in their composition draw a picture of our society and raise questions about our needs and ideals. What do we really need? Where does luxury start? Do we need what we have? Do we have what we need?
A selection of the photographs is by means of lenticular printing experiencable as autostereoscopic room portraits. The authors read the interviews at the same time and discuss the artistic possibilities and limits of room image photography. A book about the project is planned. It has partly been funded by the Federal Ministry of Economics in the framework of the PRIME research project.
Further information about this exhibit can be found in the flyer „Verzicht“. It is possible to book the exhibit for other exhibition sites. If interested, please contact Robert Laatz (r.laatz[ät]hff-potsdam[dot]de).
